Historic Sites of Manitoba: Grossweide School No. 786 (Municipality of Rhineland)The Grossweide School District was established in September 1893 by Rhineland Municipal By-Law No. 28 and a one-room schoolhouse operated at NE20-3-2W in what is now the Municipality of Rhineland. The district was dissolved in January 1971 and its area became part of the Plum Coulee Consolidated School District and later the Rhineland School Division. The school yard was bought by the farmer who owned the adjoining land and the former school building was moved to the yard of the son of the man who had originally donated the school site. In 1991, a school reunion was held, during which a commemorative metal marker was erected at the school site. Among the teachers of Grossweide School in the 1950s were John Enns (grades 2-4), Peter Hildebrand (grade 1), John Klassen (grades 5-8), and Herb Warkentin (high school).
