The Freeland School District was established in May 1892 and a one-room schoolhouse operated at the northwest corner of SW18-13-15W in what is now the Municipality of North Cypress-Langford. In June 1919, the district was dissolved and the area became part of the Brookdale Consolidated School District No. 1299. The former school building was sold to a local farmer and moved to his yard for use in machinery storage and later as a cattle shelter.
Some of the teachers who worked at the school were Miss Mitchell (1895-1896), Miss Hammond (1901-1902), Jessie Smith (1907-1908), Janet Thompson (1908-1909), and Edith M. Hockin (1918-1919).
