Historic Sites of Manitoba: Canadian Pacific Railway Tunnel (Whiteshell Provincial Park)

A rock tunnel is located at Mile 34.4 of the CPR Keewatin Subdivision in Whiteshell Provincial Park near the Ontario border. When the tracks were twinned, the second track route bypassed the large rock mass and it does not pass through a tunnel. The tunnel for the first track, still in use today, has been enlarged to handle the railway’s double-decker shipping containers.
