Historic Sites of Manitoba: Buttrum School No. 679 (RM of Prairie Lakes)The Buttrum School District was organized formally in October 1891 and a school operated on the southeast quarter of 1-5-18 west of the Principal Meridian, in what is now the Rural Municipality of Prairie Lakes. In 1964, it became Buttrum Consolidated School when it consolidated with Bethel School No. 301 and Rowland School No. 470, based in a two-classroom building teaching grades 1 to 8 at a site about five miles south of this site. This school closed in 1965 and was used as a granary for some time. The abandoned building is still present on its original site.
