Known originally as the Island Lake School District when it was organized formally May 1910, the name was changed to Abbeville in October 1917. A one-room schoolhouse operated at SW5-21-4W in what is now the Municipality of West Interlake. In 1967, the district was dissolved and its catchment area became part of the Lakeshore School Division. Only the concrete foundation of the former school building remains at the site.
Among the teachers of Abbeville School were Sydonnie? Joyal (1914-1915), Celine Peloquin (1915), Nora Zotyna (1916), Blanche Trudel (1917), Anna C.
