The club was formed through the efforts of J. Fred Palmer who had a desire to bring curling to the north end of Winnipeg with the help of Robert Paterson. In 1909, the club was formed with Harold John Pearson as the first President. The club was located at the corner of Machray Avenue and Aikins Street. In 1946, the building was sold to the Maple Leaf Curling Club and the St. Johns Club rented ice for a couple of years until it was dissolved after the 1948-1949 season.
