Manitoba Organization: Manitoba War Brides AssociationThis organization for women who married Canadian veterans of the First World War and Second World War was founded in 1982 by Lilian Bird of Portage la Prairie. To be considered a war bride, and therefore eligible for membership, a woman had to have arrived in Canada before 30 September 1947 with her travel paid by the Canadian government. The organization was disbanded in 2006 due to dwindling membership. Presidents
