Manitoba Organization: Manitoba Federation of Agriculture / Manitoba Federation of Agriculture and Co-operation

Formed in 1939 by the renaming of the United Farmers of Manitoba, it was known initially as the Manitoba Federation of Agriculture. In June 1945, it became the Manitoba Federation of Agriculture and Co-operation through a merger with the Manitoba branch of the Co-operative Union of Canada. In the mid-1940s, it was said to represent about 43,000 Manitoba farmers and all co-operatives regardless of whether they were rural or urban.

In 1958, the organization’s name reverted to Manitoba Federation of Agriculture with the departure of co-operative members to the Co-operative Union of Manitoba.
