The Windsor Hotel began life in October 1903 as the Le Claire [LaClaire] Hotel, a "magnificent new facility ... designed by the owner to satisfy the most finicky tastes of our clients." By 1930 the name had changed to the Windsor, with over $100,000 being spent on the hotel and bar. In the 1980s live blues music was introduced, and the hotel found its niche.
In May 2004, an MHS Centennial Business Award was presented to the proprietors of the Windsor Hotel by Judith Hudson Beattie, Ken Zealand and David Deane.
Closed in March 2023 by a provincial health order, the building was destroyed by fire on 13 September 2023.
