On The Road to Abandoned Manitoba

Based on a regular feature on CBC’s Weekend Morning Show, the book Abandoned Manitoba was a runaway success in 2016, becoming the top-selling, non-fiction book of the year in Manitoba. Its sequel More Abandoned Manitoba was the 2019 McNally Robinson Book of the Year.

The Author

Gordon Goldsborough is the Head Researcher, Webmaster, and Past-President of the Manitoba Historical Society, and Production Coordinator & Pageant Editor of Prairie History magazine. For the past dozen years, he has been mapping historic sites all over Manitoba, including schools, churches, stores, homes, grain elevators, military bases, and more. His series “Abandoned Manitoba” on the CBC Weekend Morning Show has been running since mid-2015 and audio copies of every episode are available here.

Besides his historical interests, Goldsborough is a member of the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Manitoba where he is a water quality specialist concerned with the impacts of humans on wetlands and lakes.
