Claims: Wawanesa’s first resident doctor. (1892). Expertise in
the treatment of typhoid fever. Encouraged sanitation by-laws as a
preventitive measure. Left for Brandon 1894.

Brook, Adina
Biography:
Claims: Acted as midwife for the surrounding district. Her first
delivery was in 1904. The fee was ten dollars. Delivered 73 babies and
nursed others.

Biography: b. Scotland m. James Downie. f. 1915
Claims: Daughter of a colonel of the guards at Ediburgh Castle.
Trained as a nurse under Florence Nightingale. Homesteaded in 1881.

Husband, Dr. HenryAubrey
Biography: Born at Bushy Vere Park, Jamaica, 1843. Educated in
Edinburgh. Married Georgina Greville.
Claims: Came in 1885 and homesteaded with their five children
near Wawanesa. First doctor in the region. Also owned the Apothecary
which was operated by Mr. Jump. Inherited the Husband Estate in Jamaica
in 1902 and went there to live. Most of his children remained in the
region.

Biography: Born Kincardine ON. Aug. 8, 1870. Married Lily Jane
Clark, 1901: Died March 27, 1953
Claims: Arrived ca. 1895. Practised medicine and purchased George
Arkell’s Drug Store. One of the first to install a telephone in 1905.
Later involved in the Wawanesa Mutual. Bred show horses.

Jackson, Dr. Frederick Wilbur
Biography: Born in Stonewall Mb. M. Irene Tucker. D. 1957
Claims: 1913 – 1929. Served in WW1. Left to become Epidemiologist
of the Provincial Board of Healtd, and later, Deputy Minister of Health
