Program Area

• materials require an open area with chairs, tables and storage areas for flexible public and educational programme activities.
•  needs to allow flexibility of use
• needs presentation media and equipment such as blackboards, poster boards, slide equip¬ment, computers and projectors
•  will be a useful space for the development of exhibit and programming materials when not in use for programming activities

Collections Area

•  requires numerous storage units, a small environmentally consistent storage area for perishable materials such as bone/antler tools, clothing etc.

Research Laboratory

•  area used to process artifacts, store them temporarily, and produce reports and tempo-rary exhibits.
• Basic area requires considerable table and counter space, sinks and water source for cleaning artifacts, drying racks, and storage shelves
•  minimal setup includes equipment such as laptop computers, high-speed Internet access, CD burner, laser and colour inkjet printers, database and image manipulation software, digital camera, photography area


Administrative Area

• requires 2 offices with basic equipment such as desks, chairs, filing cabinets and shelves

Staffing

•  minimally one full time person but two should be the goal
•  staff with skills in computers and computer graphics
•  a core of regular volunteers for programming, public requests, and exhibit and program development
