Alexander,
Guerin
Extract
from Mrs. Forsythe’s Letter
My
memory takes me back to the family who came from Scotland and built the
place we lived on, the S ½ of 20-1-18, a Mr. A. E. Alexander whose two
daughters were natural singers, singing at concerts etc. freely.
They also composed the song (now forgotten) Prairie Land, to the tune
of Beulah Land.
These
singing sisters went to Toronto for voice culture. One married,
the other went to New York and continued her singing career. I
have forgotten heir given names, so Miss Alexanders will do.
To
me
it would be rather nice to put a small memo of these good people in the
memory book.
Also
the Guerin family. Mrs. Guerin was the daughter of those famous
French people, the LaRivieres. But the historic town named for
them is on the C.P.R. on the way to Winnipeg.
I
only
wish I were nearer. I am sure I could recall many old timers who
have long since left us.
