Protecting
Heritage Sites / Financial
Support
Various grants are available to groups
or
individuals for heritage-related projects.
If you have a site with heritage
designation, you
may be eligible for a Designated Heritage Building Grant. These are not
intended for routine maintenance or upgrades, but rather are designed
to help with projects that are directly related to repairing or
restoring the heritage character of a building.
The Heritage Grants Program supports a
range of
heritage projects, excluding capital or operating funds. The Town of
Rivers and Thr Rivers Train Station Restoration project already carried
out several projects with the help of Heritage Grants.
It is always advisable to consult with
the Town and/or the R.M. office) if you are considering undertaking
your own
grant proposal for a heritage project—they have the
background
and experience that can help you define and refine your project.
You can learn about more at the Manitoba
Culture,
Heritage and Tourism’s grants page.
