Heritage
Value
|
The Bank of
Commerce was established in the Cain Block in 1909 and as
such
is the oldest continuously operating banking operation in Virden. This
building,
originally two stories, and erected in 1919, is our oldest continuously
occupied
bank building. It valued for that role in the commercial development of
Virden,
and for the element of the original façade that were retained
when
it was extensively remodeled.
