Unfortunately, there is no
such thing as paddling upstream slowly. This is especially true when
your idea of paddling slowly is to take three paddle strokes and reach
for a Dorrito. After about a month of this you've whisked past Hartney
and have entered the sandhills area near Lauder.
Fortunately the current
becomes even slower and you begin to make progress, even with your
"relaxed" approach to paddling.
You camp for the evening near
the site of an old fur trading fort, after pulling the canoe up to a
sandy bank. In your haste to start a fire and look for an outlet so you
can plug in the microwave , you forget to tie the up canoe.
When you awake it is nowhere
in sight.
You face your next command decision:
Choices:
Well, well, this
is
a fine pickle you've got yourself into.
What should you do?
You could run along the
banks, and catch up to your wayward canoe.
Or you
could give up the
whole project. If you hustle you could be back home in time to catch
the afternoon re-runs of The Big Bang
