Wise choice, this way you
may
not find the actual source of the problem, but you will be able to
document the effects of the problem. Preferably, you will do this in a
thick and poorly written report that will encourage yet another study.
Your twin strategies of: 1. Avoiding
undue physcal exertion and, 2. Ensuring adequate nourishment, should
keep you in a state of constant alertness and readiness.
Before leaving you pay some
kid to hike up to the observation tower in the Park and snap a photos
of the town on your iPhone... just in case you never make it back.
You and your faithfull
second
in command, Bernie, find a launch location just below the dam. You step
aboard and begin a fruitless search for the motor. Disappointment
follows. More disappointment follows later when you search for the
bathroom.
After a short burst of
frantic
paddling you encounter the first set of rapids. Well they would be
rapids if the water was more than ten inches deep. You are able to walk
through them easily. The you both sit back and start applying the
suntan lotion. The current pulls you relentlessly downstream at a
steady three knots. You reach for a Snickers Bar.
You face your next command decision:
Choices:
Your
funding allows
for a 60 day expedition. Should you continue this hectic pace you'll be
slipping into Hudson's Bay by August - just in time to apply for more
funds to allow for a train ride home on the Muskeg Express.
On
the other hand,
you could carefully resist the impulse to paddle energetically, thus
allowing time for careful inspection and scientific exploration - not
to mention wiener roasts on the bank!
