Ralph Friesen

Born at Steinbach, Manitoba in 1945, the descendant of one of the pioneer families, Abraham S. and Katharine Friesen. In childhood he was known by his first name, Peter—the change to his second name, Ralph, occurred in Grade 5 when the teacher was faced with distinguishing five different boys named Peter.

Ralph has Masters degrees in English Literature and Marriage and Family Therapy. He has published short fiction, poetry, reviews and historical articles in a variety of magazines and periodicals. He is the writer of a family history entitled Abraham S. Friesen, Steinbach Pioneer.

He is married and lives with his wife Hannah Hofer in Nelson, British Columbia, where he is a practicing Marriage and Family Therapist and an active grandfather.
