The Hartney Curling Club in Hartney started in 1893 as a one-sheet curling club built on Canadian Pacific Railway property on the west side of the tracks. For three years, the building was put up and taken down for each curling season.
In 1897, the club moved to the fairgrounds and built a two-sheet lean-to on the side of the skating rink. They curled in this building until 1947.
A new three-sheet rink was built in 1948, the material coming from the demolition of the Souris air base. This structure was used until 2002 when it was deemed unsafe. The following year, a new skating rink and curling rink was constructed on the east side of town near the school.
