This insurance and brokerage company received its charter of incororation via Letters Patent under the Manitoba Joint Stock Companies Act on 2 June 1905. Its founding partners were William Rae Allan, Edward Fuller Lang, George Knight Killam, Robert McKay, William Sheaver Grant, Thomas Alfred Briggs, and Maud Archibald, with Allan, Lang, Kllam, and McKay all serving innaugural terms as Directors. It had a capital stock of $100,000 and was headquartered in Winnipeg.
On 3 January 1907, its name was changed to Allan Lang Killam and McKay, followed with another name change on 31 August 1010 to Allan Killam and McKay. In January 1914, its capital stock was increased to $500,000.
Some employees of the company who were killed during service in the First World War were commemorated at a 61st Battalion concert held at the Walker Theatre on 13-14 December 1915, in a 101st Battalion souvenir program dedicated to Colonel Henry Norlande Ruttan on 24 April 1916, or in a 144th Battalion military vaudeville held at the Winnipeg Theatre on 9-11 March 1916.
