New book published on history of Alpine Club of Canada

20 August 2006

The Manitoba Section of the Alpine Club of Canada has published a history of the club in celebration of the 100th anniversary of its founding, in Winnipeg in 1906. Edited by Christine Mazur, Simon Statkewich, and David Relkoff, the book is a collection of articles describing the early years of the club (1906-1940), the “quiet times” (1941-1970), rebirth and growth (1971-1995), today and beyond (1996-2006). Some were written by early climbers and club members, including founding member Elizabeth Parker and prominent author Ralph Connor (aka Rev. Charles Gordon), and others were written by current members.
