After a concerted public campaign over the past several years, data from the 1911 Canadian census have been released by Statistics Canada to the care of Library and Archives Canada.
This development was made possible by the passage in late June 2005 of Bill S-18 by the Senate and House of Commons. This Bill provides for the full public release of all Canadian censes, after a 92-year period, up to and including the 2001 census.
The entire 1911 census has been scanned and is now available on the web site of Library and Archives Canada. Microfilm copies will also be available in libraries across the country.
