Prior to the coming of the railroad, riverboats played a vital role in the settlement of the Canadian West by carrying goods and passengers who risked everything to purse their dreams of a new life on the prairies. Steamboats on the Assiniboine by Roy Brown is an account of these prairie riverboats, their captains and crews who braved the unsettled waters and dangerous rapids of the Assiniboine and Red Rivers from 1873 to 1885.

Copies of Steamboats on the Assiniboine are $15.00 (plus GST) and are available from Daly House Museum.
