Based on a regular feature on CBC’s Weekend Morning Show, the book Abandoned Manitoba was a runaway success in 2016, becoming the year’s top-selling, non-fiction book in Manitoba. Its sequel More Abandoned Manitoba was the 2019 McNally Robinson Book of the Year.

In this new book, scientist-historian Gordon Goldsborough hits the road in search of adventure and little-known stories from Manitoba’s past. Among the places he visits are underground radiation monitoring posts from the Cold War, a remote hydroelectric generating station, cruise ships on the Red River, the original route of the Trans-Canada Highway, and much more.
