Historian.
Born in Vancouver, British Columbia in 1944, he completed his high school at Midland Collegiate in Carman, then came to United College (now the University of Winnipeg) to proceed with Honours work in History. He received his BA (Honours) in May 1966 then worked as a graduate assistant to Provost W. L. Morton. He was awarded a Woodrow Wilson National Foundation Fellowship to proceed with graduate work in Western Canadian History at the University of British Columbia.
