Keeping history alive for over 144 years

Kimmie Halwas

Kimmie’s interest in the life of photographer Yosh Tashiro came as a result of her discovery, while a student of Portage Collegiate Institute, of 10,000 of his negatives at the local Fort La Reine Museum. She helped raise $6,000 to conserve the collection and, in May 2004, she hosted an exhibit of Tashiro’s life and work at the Museum.

Her articles for the Manitoba Historical Society:

The Life of Yosh Tashiro
Manitoba History, Volume 50, October 2005
