MLA (2003-2007), MLA (2007-2011), MLA (2011-2016), MLA (2016-2019), MLA (2019-?), Premier of Manitoba (2021).

Elected as a Progressive Conservative candidate for the Steinbach constituency in the 2003 provincial general election, he was re-elected by large majorities in 2007, 2011, 2016, and 2019. He served as Government House Leader (2016, 2018-2021), Minister of Health, Seniors and Active Living (2016-2018), Minister of Education and Training (2018-2019), Minister of Education (2019-2021), Minister of Legislative and Public Affairs (2021), and Deputy Premier (2021). In recognition of his community service, he received the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal (2012). On 1 September 2021, he was appointed Acting Premier following the resignation of Brian William Pallister, being succeeded in November 2021 by Heather Stefanson.
