Professor, historian.
He is Professor Emeritus of French at the University of Calgary. He is the editor of volume 4 of The Collected Writings of Louis Riel (1985). He has co-edited, with Tom Flanagan and Gilles Martel, Louis Riel: Poésies de jeunesse (1977, new edition 2019) and, with Paul Savoie, Selected Poetry of Louis Riel (1993, reprinted 2000).
