Farmer, municipal official.

He lives at Birtle and operates a farm at Isabella that has been in the family for 130 years. In 1989 he was elected as councillor for the Town of Birtle, serving as Mayor from 1995 to 2010. He was President of the Association of Manitoba Municipalities from 2005 to 2008. He was later appointed the Building and Recovery Action Plan appeals commissioner for the Province of Manitoba. In 2013, his community service was recognized with a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal.
