The policemen held a meeting in the reading room at the police station last evening for the purpose of organizing a debating and literary society ... The meetings of the society will be held on Thursday evening of each week. “Whether a person gains more knowledge by reading or by travelling” is the subject for debate at the next meeting. James McGeer, who is conceded to be the best talker on the force, and Sergt. McRae will lead the debate. A lively time is expected.
