Curling started in Morden in 1883 and the first club was organized in 1887. Henry Peter Hansen (1856-1931) was the chief organizer. The Morden Curling Club was one of the seven clubs involved in the formation of the Manitoba Branch of the Royal Caledonian Curling Club (RCCC), forerunner of the Manitoba Curling Association, in 1888.

At first curling was played outdoors, the first structure was built in 1889. The club then purchased a plot of land from the Canadian Pacific Railway on South Railway Street, a three-sheet rink that doubled for skating was built. That structure was destroyed by a tornado in 1911. A two sheet club was built in 1912, between Ninth and Tenth streets. The club added a third sheet in the 1930s.

The current rink on Second Street was started in September 1958 and, four months later, the first stones were thrown. The following year, artificial ice was installed in the five-sheet structure.

In 1948, the Morden High School team of Stan Gowling (?-2000), Norman Stewart, Ross Topley (1931-2015), and Jack Borthwick (1930-2017) won the Manitoba High Schools Curling Championship and went on to win the Western Canada Inter-Provincial High Schools Championship.
